The planar rocking-block: analysis of kinematic restitution laws, and a new rigid-body impact model with friction

In recent years a number of signific investigations have been performed on the dynamics of rigid block above the foundation subjected to a ground motion.Considering the WenChuan(2008) and YuShu(2010) earthquake in China, we spend a year on it. Rocking block is the basic model for the building and other equpiment in the earthquake, but its motion includes stick, slip, free and multibody impact with friction. We research it on theory, simulation and experiment, and have nice results. We use the 'variable dynamic' and 'LZB model' to describle the complex process. A new impact law based on the Darboux-Keller's approach with energetic cofficient of restitution and which allows one to incorporate Coulomb's friction. The abundant results will be presented.
