FIGAL : Reliability and Random Geometry
The FIGAL team gathers LJK researchers working on Applied Probability and Statistics for Reliability and Random Geometry. Our common tools are random processes, mainly point processes.
In both thematics, our objectives are:
- - building and studying random models
- - performing statistical inference for these models
- - measuring the goodness-of-fit of these models
- - implementing the associated software development
Our research ranges from theory to applications in the fields of biology, neuroscience, engineering, physics and signal processing.
Keywords: applied probability, applied statistics, random geometry, reliability, maintenance, point processes, Gibbs processes, statistics of stochastic processes, statistical physics, percolation, phase transition, random graphs, spatial statistics, fractional and long memory processes, classification, discrimination, dimension reduction, information theory, Bayesian statistics, ageing, competing risks, recurrent events, graphical models in dependability, teaching probability and statistics.
News and Events
The collaboration between EDF R&D and FIGAL is included in the "Forward Look on Mathematics and Industry" organized by the European Mathematical Society and the European Science Fondation. You can read the document here and the page dedicated to Mars (page 117 of the document).
In February 2011, Ege Rubak (from Aalborg University) has given a series of lectures on the topic of Spatial Point Processes. The program and slides of the talks can be downloaded hereafter:
